February Favorites

I’m going to start doing a monthly recap of 10 things I enjoyed during that time period. It can and will be anything from current reads, recipes I enjoyed, household items, baby tips.

NUULY

  • I’ve been going 7 months strong with my Nuuly subscription and it has been an absolute game changer. Particularly through pregnancy and post partum it has been such a lifesaver to get clothes monthly that FIT and are stylish. I am one to love a loud jacket or patterned sweater that just doesn’t really make sense to buy when you can wear and showcase it a few times and then exchange for a new item! Most of the options are from my favorite stores like Free People and Anthro so the quality is great and most of my items show up still with the tags. BONUS: there are a ton of maternity options. Your wallet and zest for new clothes will thank you!

LASAGNA SOUP

  • It’s soup season baby! Before Clay arrived, Andy and I were making tons of soup to freeze for those first few weeks and months of parenthood. Naturally, we turned to Half Baked Harvest’s site and cookbooks for inspiration. I made her Spicy Lasagna Soup and it is TO DIE FOR!! This is now a regular meal staple in this house and we are not sad about it. A recipe that is packed with healthy ingredients, makes enough to host some friends or to freeze, and warms you up during the never ending cold months in Northern MN.

SCRAPBOOKING

  • Truth be told, I never really saw myself as a scrapbooker but then mom life hit and let’s just say: I AM HAVING A BALL. I am doodling, saving ticket stubs and love notes, cutting up photos and sharing stories. I want my books to feel like their perfectly mine and that they truly capture our life in a spirited way. This has been an absolute joy of a winter hobby that I’m sneaking in during nap time and after pipsqueak has gone to bed. Here are some items I’m enjoying playing with:

    • CANON IVY

    • FUN WASHI TAPE

    • KRAFT PAPER BOOKS

    • SHARPIE PENS

LIBRARY CARD

  • If you know me, you know that I am a minimalist. I am constantly cleaning out my closets and drawers, tossing things in the trash or hauling bags to Goodwill. I have a general distaste for stuff. However, when it comes to books- let’s just say there is no stopping me. If I come across a cute bookstore, just kiss me and my hard earned pennies good bye. I am so in love and my bookshelves show it. I read a lot of nonfiction and I enjoy underlining and making notes throughout the pages. I fold corners and I pick books up and put them down like it’s my mf day job. I’ve realized that MANY of the fiction books on my shelves really truly will not be read again and probably weren’t worth the investment (minus a few exceptions like ___ and ___). So, I went to my local library and got myself a good old fashioned library card and I feel so official!! I’m a card carrying member folks and I highly recommend doing the same. I was pleasantly surprised to learn you can rent audiobooks now? and even the library in this tiny town has a lot of current reads. The nostalgic smell of a library and feel of the plastic covers over the books brought me right back to the various libraries I have been privileged to spend time in. 10/10 recommend.

RASHI TEA

  • This stuff is delicous. Cinnamon plum tea? Say less.

BABY BIBS

  • I love little Clay and every little thing about him. But this drooling act he has going on is a bit…. intense. Andy purchased these cute handerchief bibs and they are saving us from going through 8 outfits per day. Practical, super soft, and stylish to boot.
